Hello...

This is the rather hastily assembled homepage for the Garage Sale Jukebox podcast series and is brought to you as a collaboration between me in Seattle, WA and Radio Wey in Weybridge, UK.

There’s a story. It’s long but I’ll see if I can make it palatable. As a young whippersnapper of a lad I was given a chance to be a DJ on a UK based local community radio station by Ray Darrel. So I did it. But, because I was a young whippersnapper of a lad far more interested in being out on a Saturday night than in presenting a radio show, I quit. Fast forward twenty years and Ray tracks me down on the other side of the world and we hatch this diabolical scheme to use technology to put me back on the airwaves on a Saturday night. A radio show within a radio show or, as I like to call it - A radio showlette.

So, this is a series that takes the notion DIY music and gives you, the listener, the stories behind some rare and long forgotten cuts from the 50’s and 60’s that were recorded in a garage, sound like they were recorded in a garage or I bought from a garage sale. If you want to sound all hip and cool at your next house party or impress the nerdy guy working behind the counter of your local record store then this is the series for you.

As more time comes my way and more episodes come yours, this page will fill itself out with all kinds of extra info but in the meantime, here’s the episode list with download links for the showlettes already in the can:

How can you be signed to a major record label, have your own TV show, tour with the Beatles, be friends with The Monkees, be admired by The Doors and still be virtually unheard of? The great injustices of the music business mark the grande finale of The Garage Sale Jukebox.

Why Do I Cry - The Remains
